Other Writing

Aside from standup, here’s some other things I’ve written in a state ready to publish.

Screenplay: The Black Hand

A black comedy about the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. It is a comedy, the whole thing was a mess. They’re lucky it even happened.
The last work I did on this was after receiving a ~500 word, typo laden bit of feedback from the Blacklist. It was full of the typical responses; get to the action sooner, make characters more likeable. Lesson learned I guess.

Play: War Stoppers

The Iraq War is one of the greatest foreign policy blunders of living memory. Australia only got involved to stay in America’s good books. We didn’t want to get involved, nor were we prepared to do so, but we did it. I read a report on Australia’s involvement in the Iraq War, and it was equal parts hilarious and frustrating. I condensed some of the key events down to a sitcom style play centering on the heads of Australia’s defence force at the time and how they dealt with one blunder to the next. Most of what happened in this play is true, just not the way it happened.

Play: Prussian Blue

A two hander comedy about the invention of blue paint. That’s it. Trust me, it’s interesting. Blue paint was the first artificial pigment created – completely by accident. The methods of creating blue paint up until 1703 made it more expensive than gold, but the stupidity of those involved meant they never got to capitalise on it. The guys behind Prussian Blue paint have a very loose and tangential influence on the inspiration behind Frankenstein. That should be enough to get you in.
